Hi everyone – this is my blog that should have been published last Monday; hence my apology for missing just one Monday. Unfortunately, due to a ‘mistake’ by a certain David Fowler, the below blog was never uploaded to the website. (See Dave’s “Oh, I Do Appear To Have Made A Mistake…. Again” blog for even more of his mistakes!. -Ed) And now, at last, the blog….
Hello, and welcome to another instalment of Mr. Wilson’s Mondayitis. Firstly I really must apologise for last Monday’s poor effort. I can’t quite remember what happened – did I actually have Mondayitis? Actually I don’t think so because I was actually enjoying a very brief respite at my UK home, which for me means cat time with Matilda, Monica & Winnie.
We are now a few shows into the German leg of our 2014 ‘Set the Controls tour’, and very happy to be back in Deutschland am I. We’ve been touring here for some years now and it just seems to get better every year for us. I really like the country, the people, the beer (more about this later) and the bathroom fittings and general standard of building and design. German dressing rooms are fabulous – nice furniture and fantastic bathrooms with plenty of hot water and plenty of water pressure. No lukewarm showers here. I have to say something about the German sense of humour at this point. I find that the rest of the world incorrectly assumes that Germans have no sense of humour – well, they’re wrong! Check out this shower sign backstage in the Lanxess Arena, Cologne…
Yes, German people very definitely know how to laugh at themselves!
On a different subject, we’ve just announced that we will be headlining the Greenwich Music Time festival on August 20th this year. We’ll actually be the first band to ever perform at the Royal Naval College and it promises to be a very special night. We of course have something very special in the pipeline that we are working on. It of course has something to do with the song ‘Time’. Stay tuned….
And lastly the bit about German beer. The lovely people at the Oberhausen König-Pilsener Arena left us a full barrel of, yes you guessed it, König-Pilsener after the show on Friday. Needless to say, it was enjoyed by all and went down very well indeed!
Here’s smiley Lara Smiles and I sampling said Pilsener. Prost! Zum Wohl!
